Singapore Muaythai Super fights

Singapore just celebrated the opening of a new AMAS (Amateur Muaythai Association of Singapore) headquarters in a beautiful setting. The new HQ is fully equipped to bring Singapore MuayThai to the next level; full-size boxing ring, equipment shop, swimming pool, stadium for events and of courses the new administrative centre.

To celebrate the opening the association organized Singapore Amateur Selection fights sanctioned under the AMAS, IFMA and FAMA.

Muaythai in Singapore is united under one umbrella so every Singapore Gym entered fighters in the two day championship event which only can be described as an unforgettable experience. The second day also had some international fights with Singapore’s best stepping up to represent the Lion City. Seletar Ring was packed to the last seat.

Highlights of the event were:

Simon Hughes, Australia against Dum from Phuket which was a great opener for the international events with both fighters delighting the crowd with an action packed fight. Thailand took the first fight of the evening on a points decision.

The second fight was Gabriel Rossi from Canada v Singapore based Thai fighter Bear, a fantastic display with both boys going toe to toe for five rounds. The judges could not separate the fighters in the end.

       

This was followed by an exciting female fight , showing again that the womens’ fights can be as exciting or even more so than their male counterparts. Liz Linstrom based in Singapore from the USA took on Jennifer from New Zealand. A clear highlight of the evening with 4 rounds of world-class MuayThai, the judges finding it difficult to separate them and giving a draw.

Singapore Muaythai superstar Zach took on Steve from Australia which was a war, both fighters going full steam from the opening and in round 3 Zac opened up his full Muaythai arsenal,  really putting pressure on the Australian and stopping him with a well executed knee much to the delight of the soldout stadium.

Some other thrilling moments came during the Super-4 KnockOut for the MuayThai Against Drugs Belt. The first bout was a local affair with Singapore fighters Wong Lei Bia and Nick Tan. Wong Lei Biao the winner in a good , solid fight. The 2nd fight was an international one with New Zealand fighter Corey Gwalisasi takgin on Louis Wong , Corey the winner on points. The stage was set for the final with  New Zealand v Singapore and what a fight it was!

This was Muaythai at its best both boys showing outstanding technique and heart  - the fight went down to the wire , the judges calling in for New Zealand in the end.

All the fights showing clearly that Singapore can match it with the top fighters from around the world. All in all a great night of Muaythai and a great romotion for AMAS,FAMA, IFMA and the WMC  - Muaythai in Singapore is on the way to the top !
