MUAYTHAI Opens the door to China

Beijing, the city that has been selected as the host for the 2008 Olympic games was the perfect venue for the first friendship match between MUAYTHAI and Kung Fu.

The World MUAYTHAI Council has been planing this event for over 2 years in order to find the right timing and place for this most important event.

General Chettha Thanajaro, the President of the World MUAYTHAI Council plus most of the IFMA and FAMA executive board traveled to Beijing in order to participate in the first ever friendship match. Before this the World MUAYTHAI Council had sent over 20 instructors and demonstration teams to all different parts of China in order to promote MUAYTHAI and show Chinese people the beauty of the art. China, a Martial Art country, loves MUAYTHAI and this explains why the workers Stadium was packed to the bursting point with the fight fanatics and over 500 people traveled from Bangkok to Beijing to be part of this friendship pact. The Chinese really produced a huge show and the organization was just outstanding. Fighters from around the World participated in this event and the organizers made sure that the fights were evenly matched in order to make it a promotion for both sides of the World.

The competition was all about sportsmanship and friendship and no one really criticized the decisions, even though some of them could have gone either way and the 10,000 Chinese gave all fighters a standing ovation.
No one had ever experienced such an electrifying atmosphere as when they walked into this stadium.

The fights, which were telecast live on 13 different channels, received unbelievable media coverage.

The opening of the show was spectacular with spectacular Martial Art and Chinese opera performances that had everyone stunted. Thailandsent 4 fighters, 2 of them won and two had lost to make it an even event. All other international fights had been evenly matched and China loved it. This event was the opening of a bright future for MUAYTHAI and The World MUAYTHAI Council has re invited the Chinese to a rematch in Thailand for the birthday celebration of his majesty the King of Thailand in December.

Many future events are planed around China for the next 12 years in order to promote MUAYTHAI in every corner of China.

This is why many events will be held and in each event fighters from around the World will be invited to show the standard of MUAYTHAI in each respective country. This has been another important step towards Olympic recognition! The next big event is planed for August 2007.
